Sampson is one of 6 x Bull Arab x Dalmation puppies that have been surrendered into care from Rural NSW. He is a lovely, dark brindle boy, looking for a Forever home where he can be active, safe and loved.

Sampson will need to be taken on daily walks as he has great stamina and needs plenty of exercise so he doesn't get bored. Sua

Sua

poodle - male

Hi I’m Sua. I’ve been in Foster Care for a week now and will be for the next 2 months. I am recovering from some medical procedures which were incurred due to the sad reality of my previous owners neglect and abandonment. I was found dirty, very scared, sore and sad. I received the medical attention I needed from Liverpool Animal Shelter. The next day Fiona came and took me to her home. I now feel safe and am beginning to settle in to a new way of life slowly. I have put on weight and now am 7 kilo’s and just over 5 yrs old. I get anxious when meeting new people; I tend to bark at them for a while before slowly making their acquaintance. I am a small but brave boy with a big loving heart and hope to find a forever home with a person or family who will care for me and love me.
In the last week I have come out of my shell and am loving life.
The first time I went for a walk with my carer, I didn’t walk well on the lead, opting for her to carry me most of the distance. The second time she was less tolerant and I walked all the way only jumping up twice, however I completed the distance.
I want to play more now with my furry companions but my carer is still cautious as my jaw needed to be wired together due to an old accident. I was racing around the yard yesterday darting back and forth playing with my carer. I got excited and after awhile I wanted to be carried again.
I eat well and have graduated from eating sloppy mush to eating canned food mixed with homemade bone broth, twice a day. As long as it is not chunky I’ll be okay. I have dug out the other dogs hidden denta stix from the back yard but I can’t do much with them yet, however I will get better with my chewing though. I had 23 teeth removed.
I am bathed with a sensitive type of oatmeal shampoo, as my skin is pink and my mouth is bathed with a warm towel to get and of the dirt off from digging .
I have eye cream applied twice daily to my right eye and also cream applied under my chin until the wire in my jaw comes out in 7 weeks. Once this happens I should be more comfortable. My toe nails were neglected and now need to be trimmed bit by bit giving the quicks on each nail time to recede.
I am very affectionate and have a wide hugging capacity; my paws can reach around your neck.
I lick my paws at night sometimes, I can get a little anxious, but it’s not all the time. I like to snuggle on the lounge at night watching television with my head on my carer’s leg. I am in care with two other dogs and enjoy their company.
I used to cry at the back door each night after I was put to bed in the laundry, but I stopped that last night because I figured it didn’t do any good.
I’m slowly realizing that my life can now only get better from here. Never will I be abandoned or neglected again.

***Sua's owner just informed me that Sua had a heart attack after he had attended he groomers. Passed away on groomer's floor. RIP Sua xx

RIP Scarli 😿
Scarlett passed away in-care 😿

Scarlett was diagnosed in March 2024, with a Heart Murmur. It is thought to be a Grade 3/6, which is mid-range.
As the condition has not caused any issues, Scarlett does not take medication and lives a normal life.

Scarlett and her brother, Sebastion, are from a litter of 4 x kittens that were rescued from street life and then taken into foster care by DCH.

Scarlett will need an experienced adopter who would like to work with a cat to further her socialisation. Your home needs to be calm and quiet, a single person or couple would be ideal. Scarlett is very gentle and will become a wonderful and affectionate little companion for the right person.

The video of Scarlett will show you her potential and she will thrive in the right home. Please contact me if you would like to arrange a day to come and meet Scarlet.

The adoption fee is $160 and Scarlett is:

    HOPE

    HOPE

    Standard - mare

Sadly Hope had to be euthanised yesterday due to a fast growing, and very painful, cancerous growth on her face. RIP Hope

Hope was surrendered into our care late last year. Her previous owner has provided some information, but we have yet to get to know her in the short time she has been with us.

Hope has proved very willing to come for food, but we have not yet attempted to put a halter on her.

We have been advised that Hope is underweight as she has a medical blood condition, but no specifics were given. Follow up with her previous vet will be needed to obtain details. She is in very poor condition, with rain scald, mange and dermatophilus apparent.

Given the above, poor Hope clearly needs the care of a person experienced with a variety of horses.
DCH horse carers are also asked to
    * own at least one other horse
    * have the time and finances to support an extra horse
    * have the space available for 6 months to over a year
    * not be moving properties in the near future

If you believe you can help DCH with Hope (and perhaps with Curly, who finds herself in the same situation) please email or call for full details.

    Clover

    Clover

    Arab - mare

Sadly Clover passed away while in foster care (due to age related issues)

    Arab Mare 13.1hh, 21yrs

Clover is a sweet older girl who has served her past owners well and is in need of a good retirement home. She's quiet and is able to be brushed, have the farrier out, be lead and handled easily.

Not a lot is known about her past, however she's had a good education at some point as she lunges beautifully, and we've been told she was a clever all-rounder / western pony who excelled at sporting in her younger years.

She had been badly neglected before coming to us, so we have not test ridden her as we've been focusing on getting her back to good health and a better weight.

If you're interested in giving Clover a good home where she can be assured of a secure & happy future, please contact us for more information about her.
