Fern is a beautiful precious Mama cat with a soft coat and stunning eyes!
She came into DCH’s care heavily pregnant, she has raised her babies big and strong and now it’s her turn to find a loving forever home.
She hasn’t met any other animals besides her kittens yet, but I think she would get on well with another cat or two after a slow introduction. I think she would really like to have a friend closer to her size as she loves to play chases with humans and also with her kittens but they’re only small and so she can’t really let loose.
Currently, she isn’t overly playful with toys, other than the odd ball chase, I get the impression that she is a little unsure of what exactly to do with them. If we move too fast with a string toy she backs away, but is still curious and watches her kittens play with it, so I think she just needs time to learn or maybe I just haven’t found a toy to her highnesses liking yet.
Fern prefers to be on solid ground for pats, but is okay with being picked up as long as it is on her terms, she loves chin and forehead scratches the most. She enjoys taking long naps in my bed, snuggling all the way under my quilt or in a nice warm spot close to a window.
She also likes watching cat tv on youtube, and really enjoys listening to the birds chirp and watching them flap about.
She even snuggled up in bed with me and watched an entire hour of a cat birthing video, she was pregnant at the time, so I don’t know maybe she really did understand and needed some tips haha
A feline friend for her would be nice, but she is also okay with being alone.
She is an independent and low maintenance cat, happy to just chill out with her human, she can be a chatty girl and quite vocal when she wants attention or food.
Fern is currently using Breeders choice paper litter and thrives on a balanced diet of Raw Meow and ZiwiPeak.
If you’re after a stunning cat with cattitude, she’s your girl.

Fern must also be an INDOOR ONLY cat.

Tabbygail came into foster care at the tender age of 2.5 weeks, with her siblings Humphrey, QTPie and Truffles and was bottle fed the first few weeks in care.
Tabbygail is a truly funny, cheeky kitten - who can often be found chasing her tail in the bath tub; she also has the funniest growl when she gets fully into her play and she will run through her foster home growling at the world 😊 And Tabbygail is convinced the resident dogs are her play toys, even if the dogs aren’t to sure.
If her foster mum sits on the floor with criss-cross applesauce legs, Tabbygail will quickly assume her position curled up on her lap to be part of whatever is about to happen.
Tabbygail is an adventurous kitten, and often tries to sneak out the back yard when the door opens - so her foster mum has allowed her supervised play time to climb the tree and romp through the long grass.
Tabbygail has been raised with other foster kittens, as well as the resident cats, dogs and bunny and she happily co-habits with them all. While Tabbygail has access outside via a cat run in her foster home, she is looking for forever family that can offer her the protection of growing up inside (or safe outside access).
Tabbygail has been desexed, had all her kitten vaccinations and is litter trained and will be up to date with her parasite protection - Tabbygail is ready for adoption now.
As we receive a lot of enquiries for our kittens, please include relevant details about yourself and your home/other pets, to be considered.
If you are renting, please ensure that you have approval for a cat BEFORE you lodge interest.
You must be over 18yrs old and an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident to adopt an animal from DCH.
Tabbygail was adopted on 23 October 2022 after 1 year in foster care
