Mercedes

Mercedes

Maltese x silky terrier - female

Hi my name is Mercedes and Im a 16 year old (yes I know Im older than the Queen) silky terrier X maltese

When I came into DCH care, I was in a bad way. I had a HUGE tumour hanging off my shoulder which weighed 800g and I was very matted. I was wandering the streets carrying this huge burden before I was rescued but after having a haircut and bath as well as having that huge thing taken off my shoulder, Im a new lady

I know some people will be thinking that Im too old to be adopted but let me tell you a thing or two. Im a little feisty old lady who loves going for walks ( I dare you to keep up) and I love my dinner

Ive been to the lovely doctor who has told me that although I have a few lumps and bumps, I do not need any medication to keep me fit and healthy. I walk with a bit of a limp but who doesn't at my age and it doesn't stop me from getting into mischief

I would prefer a home with no other dogs or kids as at my age you don't need any of those whipper snappers getting in your way and cats are definitely a no no

So if you like going for walks and if you have a sunny garden with a fenced yard then I am the dog for you. Don't let my age put you off, call my carer today because I would love to meet you xx

Mercedes was adopted on 18 May 2022 after 4 months in foster care

Basil

Basil

American Staffordshire x - male

Basil has had a rough start in life. Rescued as a pup, he spent a lengthy period in a shelter before being scheduled to be euthanised at 1-year-old. DCH gave him a future by opting to foster him in the nick of time, and now Basil is looking for a family to give him a chance at a wonderful life.

Despite his tough start, Basil is an energetic and boisterous pup who thinks every day is Christmas and every person he meets is Santa Claus. He is always happy and wanting cuddles and caresses. He loves playing with dog toys and chase games, lives for walks and is learning how to meet people and other dogs with less over-enthusiasm. He is the best guard dog, often alerting you to strangers on your property with his barking, but he also knows when to be quiet and not wake up the neighbours.

Basil is an outside and inside dog. He loves to hang out with people but can also be by himself as long as there are dog toys for him to play with. He is respectful of furniture and shoes but cat toys don't last long when he is near.

Basil is looking for a family of one or more where they can continue his training to regulate his over-enthusiasm but also appreciate his loving and sweet nature. He loves wet and dry food, is toilet-trained, and knows commands such as 'Sit', 'Down', and 'No'. He learns quickly through positive reinforcement (i.e. giving him a treat when he has behaved appropriately or well).

If you feel that you could offer the love and guidance Basil needs and deserves, he would love to meet you.

Basil was adopted on 15 May 2022 after 2 weeks in foster care

Jay

Jay

Border Collie x Cavalier - male

Jay is a lovely boy who is very affectionate. He loves cuddles and pats.

Jay is gentle with children and toddlers. Like all dogs, he must be supervised around children and especially toddlers to make sure they don't stress him out. He also makes a good guard dog as he lets you know when strangers come to the door.

He loves swimming and running as well as playing ball. He doesn't like all dogs. Dogs that are relaxed and easy going he likes but he does not tolerate over excited dogs.

Jay has some separation anxiety which can be addressed with training.

Jay would make a great family dog.

Jay was adopted on 10 May 2022 after 1 weeks in foster care

Ginger

Ginger

Cavoodle - female

Hi, I'm much loved Ginger. I was surrendered into the care of DCH Animal Adoptions because my human is moving overseas.

I've had a great life and was very well looked after. Small children stress me. I love my walks and car rides. I'm bouncy, friendly and ready to find a new furever chapter.

Ginger was adopted as a pup and has always known people to be at home with her...she especially gravitates to older people as that was what she was accustomed to in her previous home.

Ginger needs a yard as has been trialled in an apartment which didn't work for her.

Ginger suffers from separation anxiety, this means being home alone without her humans is hard. She will need someone home more often than not that can build her confidence so she isn’t so worried about being on her lonesome.

***Current foster carer has been trying to work with Ginger to no avail. Ginger was social with 2nd foster carer's dogs.

If you wish to consider Ginger as an addition to your home, please email her carer who will make contact with you.

***Ginger has a meet and greet scheduled for this coming Sunday 24/04/22. Successful and adopted.

Ginger was adopted on 24 April 2022 after 4 weeks in foster care

Molly and billy

Molly and billy

Shih tzu cross - female

Billy and Molly must be rehomed together and will not be separated. The adoption fee listed is for both dogs
Molly is a fun loving, sweet heart. She is a very happy dog who loves going for walks and adventures. She is quite active and would suit someone who is quite active as well
Billy can have a bit of an attitude but once he gets to know you he is your bestie. Billy is also active and is always up for an adventure with Molly
Both dogs had medical issues when they were taken into care with molly requiring major surgery to repair a large hernia. As the veterinary bills to save mollys life were very expensive, we are also seeking sponsorship to pay for these bills
They both were suffering from skin irritations however this has been managed through veterinary treatment
Billy and molly will be available for adoption after 29th of January
If you would like to meet these dogs, please contact the carer

Molly and billy was adopted on 23 April 2022 after 2 months in foster care

Togo

Togo

Siberian Husky - male

Togo found himself admitted into a Sydney council animal shelter. We don't know any history of him prior to being at the shelter however he completed his impound time at the shelter and no owners had come forward for him.

While at the shelter the staff noticed he seemed to have a hip issue so has been released to us as a rescue group to get him attention for his hips prior to rehoming him.

Togo has been examined by the vets on 25/3 and they advised he appeared to have a hip issue from the examination and recommended xrays to check the hips.

Update 1/4. Togo has had hip xrays completed. The xrays show no obvious ongoing issues with his hips and tests performed on his hips have not revealed any current issues. Hip dysplasia has been ruled out based off the current xrays. Its been recommend that he be x-rayed again by the new owners once he turns one and has completed lots of growing just to double check his hips.

Long term, he will need an owner who is energetic and can exercise him and who how knows the requirements of the breed and can meet his needs. Is recommended to give him at least 1 hour of exercise daily.

Currently he is not house trained and he will need additional training.
He has received 1 X C5 Vaccination.
He has been desexed 1/4 and has to wear a cone and will need his stitches removed around the 11/4.

Togo is now cleared to start his search for his new family and we are taking applications and will be seeking the best suited home that will meet his needs.

Charlie

Charlie

Blue Cattle x Fox Terrier - male

Hi, I'm Charlie, a timid and shy 7.8kg boy. My foster carer helped me write this to show that I do have a personality behind my shyness. I was an only companion to my furparent who, at 88 years of age is unable to care for me any longer. I was surrendered and entrusted to the care of DCH Animal Adoptions who is now on the look out for a new furparent for me.

I am residing at present with my foster carer's 3 foster fails and I'm finding that I do actually prefer my human to myself. I walk well on the collar and lead and I have a good appetite and am affectionate. I like to hang on the alfresco on a comfy trampoline bed and will check on house occupants periodically to make sure they are okay.

Following my Vet visit, it was determined that my elbow on my front leg has severe arthritis which means I will have to be on arthritis medications for life. Following this news, DCH is now looking for a single storey, quiet home with limited exercise for Charlie, no jumping off surfaces, and minimal stairs.

I like my cuddles and have slowly come out of my shell already and I'm looking forward to the next and hopefully final chapter of my life with someone who would love my company. Just look at my eyes, how can you resist?

If you are interested, please send an expression of interest to my carer by e-mail as she is in and out caring for others and will I will make sure she checks her emails between her elderly clients.

Bye for now, hope to meet you soon.
