Great Dane - female
Zeena has recently been rescued from a country pound and is in foster carer with 5 other dogs who she gets along with incredibly! She is a big girl but is very gentle with her carer and with the other dogs, and is also good on the lead.
Zeena is scared of thunderstorms, and can escape yards when she is left alone in a storm. As such, her new owners would have to make sure they prepare in the forecast of storms and make sure Zeena has somewhere safe to hide away for a little while.
She isn't yet desexed, but this will be happening in the next couple of weeks. Please call Rod if you would like to know a little more about Zeena, and say hello!
Zeena was adopted on 25 November 2018 after 1 month in foster care
Cattle x - male
Tricky, now 4 months old, was abandoned at a country pound together with his brother Rusty. When DCH discovered these lovely puppies we took them into foster care, where they are thriving.
Tricky is a beautiful black and tan medium-sized Cattle cross pup. A friendly, happy, active little boy, he is already learning lots about living in a home with his human carers and taking walks on a leash. And he loves it!
He is very adaptable, and wants to please. Tricky will make a great addition to an active family who has the time and enthusiasm to further develop this lovely puppy into a loving, enthusiastic and respectful adult dog.
Tricky is ready for a new home now.
Tricky's adoption fee includes microchipping, de-sexing and all up to date vaccinations and required treatments.
Please contact Megan to arrange to meet Tricky.
Tricky was adopted on 21 October 2018 after 2 months in foster care
Dalmation cross Bull Arab - male
Monty is a 12 week old male puppy who has been surrendered within a litter of 6 from a North Coast country pound. He is very friendly, and is currently living with 3 adult dogs, his sister and kittens. He gets along very well with the other dogs, and sleeps in the same room as the kittens and doesn't have any interest in them. Whilst Monty is currently not desexed, this will be done soon and then he will be ready to go to his new home! In the meantime, get in touch with his foster carer, Rod on 0418 239763 to organise to say hello!

Stumpy cattle cross - female
Hi there, my name is Candy and I am an 8 month old stumpy tail cattle dog cross who was rescued from a county pound a couple of weeks ago. I am currently living with another kelpie, a cat and a young child and get along with all of them really well, but sometimes I do try to get all the attention from the humans above the others! I'm afraid I am a bit of a digger and a chewer, so I tend to get into things I shouldn't - I am very active and therefore need someone who is willing to walk me lots to wear me out! Despite this I have lots of love to give, and am always down for a cuddle with whoever is willing to offer. I'm not desexed yet so I'm afraid I can't go until then, but am very excited to meet you beforehand anyway!
I'm currently in care in Glenmore Park, please contact Gemma on 0435 939858 if you'd like to come say hi!

Kelpie cross - female
My name is Sadie and I am all about humans, humans, humans. I cannot get enough of the love, and will live everyday making you guys satisfied with hugs. I was rescued from a regional pound on August 18th, and have since shown this loving side of myself. I would really suit a home where I am an only dog, as I can get a bit jealous if other dogs get the love and in cases have shown to be a bit reactive.
However, at my current home I love cuddles with cats (see photo) and am sharing sleeping quarters with 2 older dogs. I think slow introductions would be perfect and then hopefully we can share the love around! As I said though, I am a people pleaser and am very obedient and toilet trained. I'm good on the lead but again can be strong if other dogs are present.
It looks like my carers think I spent a lot of time in kennels as a breeder, as I have had a few litters and am a bit shy. I think that is why I can't get enough of the human attention now. I am desexed, vaccinated and heartworm tested, and am free to go to my new home.
Please contact Rod, my current carer, on 0418 239763 to organise to say hello to me. I can't wait. Love, Sadie.

Border Collie x - female
Woof Woof, Hi, I'm Maggie, your next favourite canine. I came into foster care after a temporary medical condition reduced my chances of getting adopted. I will be all better by mid November.
In the meantime, if you'd like to meet me and are happy to wait until I get desexed in about 3 weeks, I'd love to meet you.
I am a large Border Collie x. I was described by the pound as timid with humans and friendly with dogs.
Well, after eventually getting into my foster carer's car, I settled down and by the time we were half way home, I licked her on the nose and was laying across the back seat with my paws on her lap. (She wasn't driving!) After arriving at her place, I checked out the garden and then met her dog. I was so happy to see her that I got overexcited and knocked her 7kg, 15 year old body over. She went inside and I sat outside waiting to play with her again. My foster carer sat outside with me most of the day and now knows I love belly rubs and I like to put my paws on her lap.
I am fully grown and weigh approximately 28 kgs. I can sit, stay and am very obedient.
I would love you to register your interest with my foster carer. Many thanks for your interest, talk to you soon.. Maggie xx
Please note, it appears Maggie prefers female to male company and will need a special sensible adopter to help her through her behavioural issues.
Maggie was adopted on 17 October 2018 after 1 weeks in foster care

Cattle x - male
Hi, I'm Rooster. I'm a loveable and affectionate Cattle x and arrived from a Country pound on 18th August, 2018. I was a very shy and timid boy when I arrived there and after a month, was wagging my tail and greeting the staff at the shelter. I went a bit backward when I arrived at Sutherland, wanting to sleep amongst the hedges and hardly coming out, however 6 days on I have come out of my shell again and am romping around the back yard and now spend most of my time on the alfresco, either on the banana lounge or in one of my 2 beds.
I am sharing my carer with two other dogs, a 12 year old cattle x corgi and a 15 year old fox terrier x chihuahua who walk under me if I stand still long enough. Being older, they don't play as much as I would like, however I am an independent guy and enjoy company, or my own.
My foster carer bought me a teddy bear which is my favourite toy. I also love her hand-towel and a Kong which is full of treats. I enjoy a varied diet and have the most beautiful teeth.
Due to my timidness, I haven't been heartworm tested, vaccinated or desexed yet. My foster carer must earn my trust in order to take me to the vet, which is slowly happening. As I said, I've come a long way so far. So if you would like to meet me, I'd be thrilled to meet you and hopefully find my furever home.
Rooster will thrive in a special understanding household who will give him the initial space he needs to open up.
Rooster was adopted on 03 October 2018 after 1 month in foster care
Staffy X Heeler - female
Sammy has been surrendered into DCH care to find her a forever home.
She is a Staffy X Heeler puppy.
She is good with cats and dogs after living with three dogs and a cat.
Sammy is very quite and very relaxed and can be timid at times.
She needs LOTS of love, attention and company.
As she is a young puppy she will need to be obedience trained and will need toilet training.
We are looking for a new home where she can have access to both indoors and outdoors with a secure yard.
As she is a young puppy, she needs someone with lots of time and attention to help settle her into a new home. She will bark, she will yelp and she will make noises. She will chew things, she will dig, she will knock things over. She will need time and love. She will need access to a secure yard where she cannot get under or over the fence..
Sammy has been desexed, wormed, microchipped and 1st Vaccinated through DCH.
The new owner will need to provide the 2nd vaccination and 3rd vaccination before the dog is fully vaccinated and can be walked or taken to the park.
She will need obedience and toilet training.
Adopting a dog is a long term commitment so please consider all on-going aspects of adopting Sammy as she won't be a puppy forever.
Sammy was adopted on 30 September 2018 after 4 weeks in foster care
