Rehomed Dogs

Pippin came from the pound absolutely terrified, and they were not even able to get a muzzle on him to microchip him. His coat was very matted and he developed Kennel Cough within 24 hours of leaving which required antibiotics and cough medicine. To enable him to be clipped and microchipped he needed two doses of sedation and muzzling. Since then he developed a stomach problem, thought to be gastritis which required multiple courses of antibiotics and antacids plus a special diet. He later developed a painful hot spot which required more antibiotics and treatment. Poor Pippin has come a long way since leaving the pound and he is now able to eat normally. We are hoping the worst is over for Pippin and the future will look bright and healthy for him.

My name is and I am a very gentle and sweet little cross breed. I can be a bit shy when I first meet people but I am coming out of my shell as I am feeling secure with my carer and her family. Sometimes I can seem to be aloof but its only because I am being cautious but once I know you, I will ask if I can climb into on your lap for a cuddle and a nap.

I enjoy playing with the ball in the yard and having a chat to my carers cats too, only one of them doesn't like me but I am still friendly to her. I am not really much of a barker however if the cats don't want to play I will give a little bark to say 'please go on just a little play' but then I stop once I know they don't want to.

I am not really active like other puppies, I prefer being on the lounge with the kids. My carer has 3 kids from baby to primary age and I love them all. I will have a sleep next to them then get carried around by the 2 year old and play dress ups with the 4 year old. I look after them and they look after me.

I stay really close to my foster family as I don't want to run away, get lost again and end up in the pound.. ever! When the family go out I will just look at them like can I come too....please! Although I don't really like walking on the lead my carer has been helping me get used to the harness and I am slowly starting to be OK on it now.

I like to sleep in my bed at night and don't get up to mischief when everyone's asleep. When my carer goes out I stay in the laundry which I don't have a problem with as long as I have some toys and a comfy bed.

Keta was surrendered to DCH because his owners will be travelling overseas for long periods on a regular basis and they didn't feel it was fair to kennel him so much. He is 4 years old and originally came from Sydney Cats and Dog home. Keta can be a little dominant with younger silly dogs but responds to his human when told to back off. For this reason he would suit a more experienced owner. Keta is not good with cats but comes when called and is good on leash. He loves people and fetching a ball which makes him easy to exercise.

Pippin has now come a long way since leaving the pound and with his stomach issues all cleared up he is now able to eat normally. We are hoping the worst is over for poor little Pippin and the future will be bright and healthy for him but he still has some progress to make as he is still wary of strangers but is getting better with each day. He needs a very caring and understanding family who are able to gently work with him and his fears. He gets very attached to his people, loves his foster carer, his daily walks and is becoming more confident as time goes on.

Cody is such a lucky boy

Coco is an amazing dog! It really is as simple as that. Loyal, obedient, intelligent, attractive and affectionate, she loves having her ears gently played with, it turns her to jelly. Rides well harnessed in the car and loves her walks and leash free runs, she actually gets a little excited and chatty (not barky) when she knows she heading out somewhere. Fully house trained, sleeps in and out, (sheltered) and gets on well with all non aggressive dogs. Great with kids, not too bad with cats till they run, then it becomes a chasing game. She has a very balanced warm nature about her, a calmness that is serene, clever girl too. Loves lying by your feet, enjoys that closeness, don't worry if she's invited up for a cuddle she will do just that, just ask her, she loves to please. This girl is truly a gem, how anyone could not have claimed her at the pound is beyond me, someone has put in the time to train and love this girl. Gorgeous face, amber eyes and richly coloured, odd in her body shape, but that only adds to her appeal. 9.4 kgs, Kelpie, Australian mix, small dog with a large dog bark, great watch dog. Eats well and is fed twice a day. If your looking for a life long friend to hang out with, maybe a new family member, to share good times with, Coco may be your girl? Max is a friendly boy who gets along well with other dogs and is not at all fussed by cats nor chickens. He plays well with children and is very tolerant of them. Max is responding well to training and is showing he is a very smart and capable boy. He is well behaved on a leash when going for walks and is eager to please. Max is a very happy puppy and will make a great addition to a family.

Harley came to us because his family could not keep him any longer. He settled in immediately, loves his food and enjoys his walks twice a day. He loves all the neighbourhood dogs and plays very well. He only barks once in a while and its usually because he is excited and wants someone to throw his ball, which he may or may not bring back, depends on how he feels. His new best friend is Josie, she is 9 and she walks him every day and his other new friend is Spencer the rat. He loves Spencer and licks him at every opportunity, Spencer is less than impressed by the licking, but still keeps coming back for more. Harley is a happy and healthy boy.

Part Shar-Pei, part Staffy and possibly part Lab, Boris is a ridiculously cute dog. He has the cute wrinkles of a Shar Pei, the compact nuggety body of a staffy, and the cuddly temperament of a labrador. At 12 months of age, this boy absolutely loves other dogs and people of all ages. Once he finds a playmate at the dog park, your biggest job will be to get him to stop romping. Taking him for walks can turn into a bit of a celebrity-fest, as his striking looks attract lots of attention. Not shy, he will wiggle-bum his way over to anyone who gives him half a chance, and flop onto his back for some quality belly-rub time. Around the house, he is low maintenance. As long as he gets a couple of walks a day, he is happy to spend his time sleeping or making puppy-dog moon eyes at you. Just make sure that you give him a few doggy things to chew on to keep him occupied. He is still a puppy, and likes to have plenty of toys (otherwise he'll create his own!) Boris is an absolutely gorgeous boy that you will love to bits, and will make a great addition to any family. Boris is in foster care at Watsons Bay
